Buhari poses no threat to PDP - Sule Lamido insists

Former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari's second term ambition poses no threat to the chances of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election.

Lamido who is a presidential aspirant of the PDP made the statement on Saturday, November 11, in an interview with the Sun newspapers.

The former governor said his party does not care who the APC fields in the 2019 presidential election because the PDP is more than two-third.

He said: "Buhari came from a very small party called the CPC. Without the influence of the ACN and the governors who left the PDP, there was no way he would have won because he came from a very tiny party.

"If those who came together to make him what he is are no longer in the party, then he has my sympathy for failing to understand this. Look here, Buhari is no threat to the PDP."

Lamido said Buhari's political influence will whittle down if those who were originally in PDP leave the APC.

He described the president as being fatigued, adding that Buhari at president is not the same person who contested and won the 2015 presidential election.

"Buhari, who they saw as the only man at the helm of 20 million people that Nigerians in the APC were ready to surrender their trust, their reasoning, their honour and everything because they are so lazy. Look at what (Professor Itse) Sagay said about the APC. He said they are all thieves. So if they are calling the PDP thieves, their own man is saying they are all thieves," Lamido said.

Meanwhile, the ruling APC has again blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the controversial reinstatement of embattled former pensions' boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service.

In an interview with Punch, the national publicity secretary of the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the party was not blaming the PDP for everything; but simply recollecting the past, in order to avoid making the same mistakes.
